A Pair of Medium Brass Spiral Candlesticks, Aesthetic ? 19th Century

An attractive and very uncommon pair of late 19th century cast brass spiral form candlesticks, perhaps made at the time and partly in the style of the Aesthetic movement. These have a decorative but quite subtle style, with a coiled stem, leading from the round base to the candleholder part. These are a medium size, standing about 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall and 3 inches (7.5 cm) in width measured underneath the bases. They are designed to hold candles of about 0.75 inches (2.2 cm) in diameter. The candlesticks are of a good weight of brass and feel solidly and well made. The candlesticks are also weighted underneath their bases. A pair of good well cast candlesticks which could suit a variety of styles.
