Description
Exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver and blue glass mustard pot; an addition to our Victorian silver cruets/condiments collection. This exceptional antique Victorian mustard pot in sterling silver has a tapering cylindrical shaped form. The body of the mustard pot is embellished with finely pierced scrolling leaf decoration accented with floral head designs. The decoration to the body incorporates a scroll bordered shaped vacant cartouche. The upper rim of this sterling mustard pot is ornamented with a continuation of scrolling foliate decoration. This fine mustard pot retains the original hallmarked plain hinged domed cover surmounted with an impressive cast finial realistically modelled in the form of a stemmed flower. This antique piece is fitted with an opposing scroll handle with a plain scrolling thumbpiece. This sterling silver mustard pot retains the original blue glass liner. This antique mustard pot is supported by impressive cast and applied bracket style feet, embellished with further foliated decoration. This exceptional mustard pot is supplied with an associate antique Victorian London sterling silver spoon. This antique Victorian mustard pot was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard. This antique silver mustard pot is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the excellent gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional example of Victorian silverware.
