Chelsea Ceiling Light by Atlas Lighting with Whitefriars Shades

This is a stylish mid century triple pendant light, this was designed by Richard Stevens and Peter Rodd in 1958 and won a design council award in 1960. Made by Atlas Lighting, a division of Thorn, they are known as ‘Chelsea’ pendants and the glass is by James Powell & Sons of Whitefriars. In this case, the glass has one amber shade and two in pale blue. The upper part of each pendant is a metal cylinder which has a central lamp holder fitting with three long metal grips which are attached to the shaped glass tubes at their tops and pulled back up into the metal holder, so that a bulb can be fitted from above the glass. This will make a wonderful addition to any home, but particularly one with a mid century interior. Dating to the 1960s, these are made of glass and metal, and originate from England.
