Description
This is a very charming early 19th century portrait painting of twins William Thomas Sherred and Ann Stephan Sherred born September 5th 1848. The twins are beautifully painted wearing matching outfits in blue gingham and black booties with grey and white oversocks. William holds a riding crop and his sister Sarah holds his hand. The portrait has all the information shown in the accompanying letter inscribed to the reverse of the work. This informs of the provenance of the work and it’s journey within the Sherred family.
A most charming portrait and a very interesting piece of social history that is beautifully framed, still in its original good quality rosewood frame that remains in outstanding condition.
