Inlaid Ebony Jewellery Box + Tray c.1835

Please see my stock page for one of the largest selection of jewellery boxes available on this website. Attractive inlaid ebony jewellery box believed to have been made during the early Victorian. All veneer is in superb condition, all original and complete. Original side hoop handles still fully intact. Original inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche and escutcheon that contrasts to maximum effect against the veneer. Stands on what is considered to be the original turned wooden ‘bun’ feet. The lid closes perfectly square. Hinges and lock in excellent condition with a replacement working key supplied. The interior has been skilfully refurbished to serve as a jewellery box. Ruched silk panel within a silk covered frame to the lid interior. Tray comprising of 12 sections 2 of which feature silk covered lids with ornate gilt ring pull knobs. The small sections are ideal for those smaller items of jewellery. Please note the nice finishing touch of the silk top edges of the tray and all of the dividers. Side metal handles to the tray. Storage section beneath the tray with lightly padded silk covered panel to the base for those larger items of jewellery. Made circa 180 years ago this item has skilfully been given a new lease of life for modern day use. The style and colour is such that it would display well in any setting. Please Note.
