Description
This is an extremely attractive barograph in a walnut case with a lovely inlaid veneer. Slightly larger than the standard pattern, the case is approximately 400mm wide x 255mm wide x 245mm high with a chart drawer mounted on brass bun feet & & glazed all round with thick beveled glass. The movement (of standard form & uses typical charts) is finished in a deep lacquer & totally original. Signed on an ivorine plaque by Chadburns, 47 Castle St, Liverpool, this instrument was clearly made to a very high standard for possible use in public display area.
Circa 1910. Almost certainly manufactured by Short & Mason, London. See extract from the book 'Weather' by Taylor Instruments of New York, dated 1908, who were agents for Short & Mason - showing this exact barograph.
