Description
The watch has a good quality 15-jewel (3 adjustments) stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 4,288,767 which dates it back to 1925. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 935 silver and the inner cover is signed with the Longines name. The case also carries the same number as the movement.
The case is in good condition, just the odd minor mark and a some rubbing to the engine turned detail on the back of the watch. There is also a vivid blue logo on the back, and it is also signed Saurer. There is an old repair to the blue area.
Saurer was probably the leading European producer of heavy vehicles before the First World War. The company diversified into aero engines in the 1930s, and continued to produce trucks, motor buses, trolley buses and textile machines.
The glass lens has a couple of small marks but not too detrimental.
The signed dial is in lovely condition with original blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers with 24 hour numbers.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.
