Description
The watch has a grade 359 9-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 28,822,562 which dates it back to around 1936.
The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the winding crown and 30mm high excluding the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1924, together with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison, manufacturer and supplier of cases to Waltham UK. There is also a patent number of 191970 which relates to a British patent for ‘improved means for securing strap ends to watches, buckles or the like’, applied for on behalf of Waltham in 1923.
The front of the case is in good condition. A little scratching to the side. The back of the watch has unevenness.
The case and movement are not original to each other… often complete movements were replaced as a more economical option at the time.
The lens is in good condition.
The signed dial is in lovely condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch comes in a new presentation box.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

Credit / debit card purchases can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the red 'Buy Now' button on each listing page.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
