Item of the Week - Superb Burr Walnut Sideboard c.1905

A beautiful sideboard, which was made at the beginning of the 20th C. This burr walnut piece of furniture features three cupboards and three drawers underneath the cupboards. The sideboard has finely carved decorations and attractive brass handles.

Made in 1905 the antique sideboard stands at 108cm in height and is 163cm wide, it is 48cm in depth, so it provides substantial storage space whilst looking stunning within the home. The sideboard is in excellent condition; it was made to an exceptionally high standard and from the best wood available during the time.

The design of the sideboard is typical of the period; it is a perfect statement piece that would look particularly attractive in a dining room. The drawers and cupboards could be used to store dining sets, cutlery, glasses and dishes; this sideboard is both stylish and functional. 

Sideboards became a fixture in the home prior to the introduction of kitchen cabinets, they provided much needed space for kitchen utensils, however today many people purchase a sideboard such as this for its beauty, purely as a decorative feature in the home.
