18th Century Carved Oak Jointed Stool

Carved oak jointed stool 18th Century of a rich dark colour time worn and full of character, with a bread board edge to the top showing years of use, below a reeded border and four jointed turned supporting legs with low stretchers. The stool bears the initials Ch. Clearly it was important to people to initial their furniture as ownership in the family home. Simplistic in design a purely functional vital piece of furniture in its day. These little stools were the precursor to chairs, dragged across rough floors to sit on after a hard day.
