Description
This elegant oval ring box was found by a colleague with very little left of the original silk and velvet interior. Externally it was darkened by heavy oxidisation and seemed to have limited prospects. Now it has been; refitted with a traditional hand dyed midnight blue velvet and silk combination of fabrics, had its exterior sensitively cleaned and the base stabilized.

Larkin & Gallow has clarified that the Antique Silver Large Oval Jewellery Chest by Levi & Salaman (LA418247) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1902
condition
Condition is good with only a few small holes arising from years of overzealous polishing. The seam does have a small split, but a silversmith agrees that effecting a solution might cause more damage than the marginal gain it would achieve.
