Description
This is a lovely late Victorian washstand dating to the early 20th century. It is a useful piece which is ideal for a bathroom, perfect for a bowl type sink, you just need a handy plumber who can cut a hole through the slate top. The washstand is made of satinwood and is fairly compact and lightweight with a single door to the front and a towel rail to either side. The top has a very heavy removable piece of black slate which is backed with a removable tiled splash back. The base is set on turned legs finished with small castors. I have hand painted the base and splash back in my own mix of mid blue paint which I call Skylark blue. The legs have been given dark blue highlights and the paintwork has been lightly distressed and then darkly glazed which gives depth and character to the finish. The paintwork has been waxed and is solid colour with a smooth low sheen finish. The measurements are taken at the widest points.
