I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a large showroom at Wallingford Arcade, in Wallingford between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
A very beautiful watercolour by listed artist, Charles Sim Mottram RBA(1852-1919) signed lower left and dated 1893. It shows the locals out on the beach at low tide, apparently collecting driftwood or perhaps, in the background, searching for cockles. It is a well balanced composition, full of business and interest.
Mottram specialised in coastal scenes and exhibited between 1876-1903. He was a member of Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) and exhibited at their premises in Suffolk Street frequently. He also exhibited at Royal Academy and NWS (forerunner of Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours). The beach location is not identified, but Mottram was living at Weymouth from 1891 until moving to St Ives in 1900, so it's likely to be a Cornish beach.
