I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a large showroom at Wallingford Arcade, in Wallingford between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
This is a little different! A German enamelled metal bread bin in a shape which would not really be suitable for British bread! It is inscribed "Unser täglich Bröt gib uns heute", or "Give us this day our daily bread" from the Lord's prayer. It also has Secessionist style floral decoration below the inscription and a rather finely engraved handle. Obviously not a cheap piece in its time, and worth a historic repair to the hinge. Still very usable as a container and an item not easily replaced.

condition
condition
The enamel is in remarkably good condition for its age- there are one or two chips externally and the inside shows signs of wear and use. The hinge has been replaced at some time and possibly also the lock to the front.
