The chest was in poor condition and was practically falling apart when purchased.
The top three boards had slight bows.
The sides have been glued back together.
All the drawer runners have been removed and glued back together and also screwed in position to add more strength.
The drawers were not fitting perfectly and some sides have been planed to fit better.
Basically one could argue that the whole chest has been totally rebuilt.
The original finish was poor and not adequate.
The whole chest has been limed and weathered to match / replicate a chest of the same era.
The new finish would bring any customer joy in its finish.
There are a few tiny blemishes which have been left on purpose as any antique furniture has blemishes commensurate with age.
There was "a look " from the outset of restoration and it has been achieved ; as one can see in the photos.
The top is more polished than the drawers on purpose to protect it more.
Similar chest can be bought for £1450 on other sites and this is modestly priced.
Days of work went into achieving this restoration and sympathetic/ period finish.
