Description
Abstract study of a dancer and beautifully highlighting the dancers legs.
You have to admire the flow and rhythm captured in these dancers (possibly ballet dancers). Mary Krishna (British 1909-1968) was an incredibly talented artist, the way she captured the movement in these studies of dancers is sublime. Each head, arm and leg position is wonderfully placed as she builds the subjects, although muted in colour they seem to be full of colour, sounds strange to says this, but she manages to evoke my imagination. I guess this is what she wanted to achieve, it certainly works for me.
When you study the dancers some have an abstract feel about them, others a soft flow with nice curves running from head to toe. Each drawing unique and individual in its own right. I particularly like the shadowing created, adding a lovely mood to each one.
Beautifully presented, in a complimentary frame and mount, adding additional value to each piece.
What I love about art is the way it gives you instant gratification. You find it, you fall in love with it, you buy it, it arrives quickly and you hang it.
Thought to be created around the 1950's Mary Krishna's work often revolved around Indian dancing figures, ballet dancers, gods and animals. All signed bottom right hand corner, all of the same size and one is framed in different colours.
Quite rare to find a set of five, the same size and of the same subject matter.
Available as a collection of five and or individually.
