Description
Unusual pair of Brazilian natural purple agate bookends that have been polished to great effect to reveal the various internal differing forms and colourations in the stone. Also finishing the outsides of the bookends to great effect is a contoured layer of pure silver to each that follows and hugs the lines of the outside stone.
The bookends exhibit natural striations and fissure associated with this most beautiful and striking of Brazilian hardstone.
Being absolutely super critical, the bookends have very minor chips to one lower corner and this is not really seen in general usage and indeed, you would have to look very carefully to find them otherwise, the pieces are in very good overall condition.
Probably dating from the 1960s/1970s, the bookends are unusual and eye catching enough to grace any bookcase or set of bookshelves. The heights are approx. 9cm and the widths are approx. 8.5cm.
