Description
Late 19th Century (c.1880) French antique longcase 'comptoise' clock . An oak and walnut case with an arched hood pediment. A waisted shaped case with a large glass opening door showing the decorative brass pendulum. A recessed base panel and standing on shaped feet. An opening hood door to the decorative pressed brass surround to the convex enamel dial. Brass hands and signed 'Jno Raymond, Villejesus'. A 7-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.
Villejesus is in mid-west France. The case is later than the mechanism, circa 1970.
