SUPERB EDWARDIAN ANTIQUE OIL PORTRAIT PAINTING OF A DISTINGUISHED OFFICER GENT
This is a fabulous signed original late 19th / Early 20th Century Oil on Panel Portrait Painting depicting a a handsome distinguished Officer Gentleman sitting within a magnificent interior setting.
The extremely highly detailed, all-original work dates to Circa 1890-1910 and is signed lower right corner:
The impeccable Portrait portrays this very strong/stern-looking Gentleman sitting in a Period antique Lion's throne armchair, wearing a thick Trent coat and holding his Bowler Hat in one hand.
He's surroundings are extremely regal. A newspaper rests beside him on the deep-pile Regency red carpet, together with an extremely rare period antique ceramic vase nearby.
The attention to detail throughout this painting is remarkable, and the artist Bennet has captured this Gentleman sitter in impeccable attention to detail.
With the Gentleman's rugged features, the intricate detail of his plush surroundings, together with the highly detailed Trent coat demonstrates that this was a very prolific Portrait artist of the era.
We have not personally researched the name Bennet, but it is very possible that somebody out there knows who the artist was, as the quality of this painting stands out!
Mounted within the original glazed Rosewood moulded frame, and retaining the original, thick, plush green velvet inner slip.
Both painting and frame are in a lovely original antique condition commensurate with age, and so the painting is, therefore, ready to be hung and enjoyed immediately.
