Description

Copperplate engraving by Charles Louis Simonneau engraving (Charles Louis Simonneau (baptised 3 August 1645, Orléans – 22 March 1728, Paris) was a French engraver).

Entitled in the image ‘Offerabat Claudius Ludovicus Thiboust Academiae Parisiensi 1685” The item has been trimmed to image and laid to add in the past as is usual when things are this old, In an antique burr maple frame. The item is huge frame size 77cm wide 64 cm deep/height.

One are of loss on the frame/Typical allegorical scene with a weird baby peeking out by the Queen/ladies shoulder seems to translate as Claudio Louis presenting to the University of Paris but many of you will do better

Condition

The item has been trimmed to image and laid to add in the past as is usual when things are this old, There are small areas of spotting/foxing but minimal and with something this old the best option is live with it, frame is newly rebacked etc so stable and will not stain more
