EXQUISITE ORIGINAL 19thc PRIMITIVE PERIOD ANTIQUE CASTLE LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING
This is a fabulous, original late 19th Century Primitive Oil on Board Painting depicting a coastal hillside Landscape with a majestic ancient Castle on top of the hill.
The all-original piece is mounted within the superb quality, period, heavy, and original 19th Century foliate decorated gilt moulded frame and it is signed by the artist lower-left corner:
Dating to circa 1890-1900, the beautiful image portrays a much earlier Castle which sits proudly on a coastal hilltop, probably constructed originally during the 14th/15th Century to guard/protect the country from seafaring enemy's.
A flag can be seen flying above the Castle at full mast, in Blue & white colours, which may be a clue to any avid national flag fan as to the origins of the country, and possibly even the geographical area of the Castle in which the work portrays.
The images do not do this piece justice!
When viewed in the flesh, in our humble opinion, we think the painting and frame have the appearance of a much earlier 18th Century piece, although it does definitely date to Circa 1890-1900!
Both painting and frame are offered in a fabulous original antique condition commensurate with age with a good original aged colouration & patination to both.
