A G Adams (1860) LARGE FINE 19thc COUNTRY VILLAGE LANDSCAPE WATERCOLOUR PAINTING
A beautiful large original Mid 19th Century Gilt framed watercolour Landscape Painting depicting a tranquil English country Village Scene.
The very impressive work is mounted within the original quality gilt scrolled frame and it is protected by the original period 19th Century glass panel (hence, some small minor reflections within the images during the photographing process)
The work is signed and dated (1860) by an artist called:
'A. G. Adams'
The wonderful image portrays a marvellous Victorian Country hamlet with a tall church steeple in the background. A number of 19th-century villagers can be seen going about their daily lives. A lady on horseback is talking two gentlemen, whilst in the period cottage, a lady speaks to another neighbour through her open window.
Her washing can be seen hanging on the fence, whilst free range chickens amble close by.
In the centre of the painting is what appears to be two young children, possibly twins, talking to a lady who is dressed like a nun.
The fabulous scene has a very relaxed, almost 'Sunday' feel to it, and one wonders if indeed, this is a Church visiting Sunday!
There is so much going on in the painting that each time it is viewed, it appears to show something different.
We have not researched the artist but it is clear to see from the quality of this painting that he/she was at the top of their game during this period.
The colours are extremely vibrant and the attention to detail is stunning quality.
Both Painting and frame are in a splendid original condition commensurate with age.
The frame has had a handful of small minor areas of Gesso loss but these have been professionally touched in with gilt cream and so they hardly notice unless on very close inspection.
