HUGE SUPERB 18thc STYLE COUNTRY SQUIRE OIL PORTRAIT LANDSCAPE PAINTING
A fabulous extremely imposing original 20th Century Oil on Panel full-length Portrait painting depicting an 18th Century Country Squire standing within a huge stately home Landscape setting.
This stunning original oil painting comes with excellent provenance!
The work originates from Castle Lodge, Ludlow, Shropshire, where it had adorned the walls since its commission together with a handful of other paintings by the same artist's hand:
'Paul F Workman'
Workman specialized in Portraiture from the 18th Century, and many of his paintings are still currently displayed in large houses across the country, mainly great houses which charge a fee to the public to view their house and their art contents.
The stunning, very large image portrays a very handsome Country Squire, holding what appears to be a Horses whip in one hand whilst his foot rests on a large Boulder.
The landscape behind him captures a huge country residence, probably his own home which he uses for Gentry shooting parties.
A small country Fox can be seen watching the gent, whilst above the Fox in the distance rain can be seen streaming through the clouds.
The painting is dated 1797 which is undoubtedly the date in which the original Portrait painting was executed.
Workman has indeed signed and dated his work lower right corner: ''Paul F Workman 99''
The painting and frame are in overall outstanding original condition.
There are one or two-minute areas of paint loss but certainly nothing in which detracts from the overall superb quality & appearance and it is therefore mentioned more so for accuracy.
This huge marvellous portrait painting will be the main topic of conversation of any room in which you choose to hang it.

Our Fine Art Listing Terminology & Qualifiers
When a listing's heading reads ''by'' and is followed by the artist's full name (or the artist's initials, if his full name is unrecorded), the work is in our opinion by the artist.
When the term ''signed by'' is used, in our opinion the work has been signed by the artist.
When the expression "attributed to" is used, the work is in our opinion possibly a work by the artist, in whole or in part.
When the expression ''circle of'' is used, the work is in our opinion a work of the period of the artist and showing his influence.
When the expression ''follower of'' is used, the work is in our opinion a work executed in the artist's style but not necessarily by a pupil.
When the expression ''manner of'' is used, the work is in our opinion a work executed in the artist's style but of a later date.
When the term "after" is used, the work is in our opinion a copy or imitation (of any date) of a work by the artist.
When the term ''bears signature'' is used in our opinion the signature is by a hand other than that of the artist.
