John Hall Thorpe was an Australian artist who studied at the Goldsmith College in London during the 1920’s. This one Open Gate shows a typically English country view with a cart track stretching of into the distance while the hay is being gathered onto carts and in the foreground two very wooden lumpy rabbits rabbits by the open five bar gate.
