I have been in the antiques business since 1962, starting in the family business in Staffordshire. In the early 1970’s I moved to Hertfordshire where I opened my own business and created a limited company. 25 years ago I moved the business location to my present large shop premises in the pretty, rural village of Wilstone, near Tring in Hertfordshire. Please always phone 07860 910034 to view my shop.

Description

A fine Regency period jewellery cabinet with a matching pair of doors which when unlocked, open to reveal four interior drawers, these are lined in blue materiel. The cabinet stands on its original splayed feet and is polished all the way round, making it centre standing. The doors and top are cross banded in kingwood and outlined in boxwood string inlay. The entire cabinet and drawer fronts have a lovely original colour and it is in excellent condition.

I have named this as a walnut cabinet for ease of identification but actually this little cabinet is made in a wood called Gonzales Alves which is a cross between walnut and rosewood and can easily be mistaken for either. It has a delightful soft focused colour and grain and was generally used between 1800 and 1840.
