Description

A small George III Mahogany Tambour Cylinder Bureau from the 18th Century that has very nice timber that is used throughout. The Bureau has square tapered legs that terminate in brass cup castors and 2 drawers which are cock-beaded, oak lined and have their original locks with swan neck handles.

With the tambour opened it reveals a very nice fitted interior which pulls out extensively so it is easy to sit too. The base has a lift up adjustable writing or reading slope. Two small drawers, one of which has a false bottom with secret pull out compartment to the rear. Nicely shaped pigeon holes.

The tambour works perfectly and also has its original matching brass swan neck handle. The top has warped slightly over the years, down in the centre and has therefore been built up slightly at each end to allow the tambour to work properly. This only notices when the tambour is closed.
