Description

This unusual earthenware egg cup is for the eggs of a goose or it can be turned upside down to provide a cup for hen's eggs. The lovely design is in a maroon transfer print and features Ludlow Castle in 1792 on one side and and Nottingham Castle in 1792 on the other side.

Declaration

Wessex House Antiques has clarified that the Goose/Hen Egg Cup C.1850 (NAC/d/24811/489 / LA134554) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1850.

Condition

There is one small chip to the hen's egg cup rim but otherwise the egg cup is in very good condition for its age of around 170 years. Please inspect the photographs closely to assess the condition and quality of this charming piece.
