I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks which are mostly limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including silver, ceramics and glass. I have a shop in Abingdon on Thames, about 5 miles from Oxford, which is open by appointment but my business is mostly online. My website has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where most of my items are shown.

Description

Keith Murray (1892-1981) was one of the most influential designers of glass ceramics and metal ware in inter-war Britain. He is particularly famous and collected for his range of earthenware ceramics designed for Wedgwood. Murray was originally an architect but a lack of work in the 1920s forced him to change career. His simple unfussy designs are very popular today and look remarkably modern! This design is called a "top hat" bowl, which is odd because it doesn't look at all like a top hat and indeed is very shallow. Signed Keith Murray on underside.
