Description

This creamware teapot is made in earthenware and has been decorated by hand in a blue chinoiserie design. It stands on a tall stem with a very wide foot reminiscent of drinking glasses of the period, this design is highly unusual in pottery. It is English manufacture, possibly Leeds.

Declaration

Wessex House Antiques has clarified that the Extremely RAre Early Creamware Teapot C.1740 (PSy/Boo/29109/322 / LA118771) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1740.

Condition

The lid is missing, and there is some restoration to the end of the spout, but the tea pot itself is in very good condition. This is a real collector's item, in over 30 years of dealing in antiques I have never seen another like it. Please inspect the photographs closely to assess the condition and quality of this rare piece.
