Pappilon was founded in 2016 as a Mother and Daughter collaboration of ideas spanning 'some' decades of new and old. Both having a fascination with interiors and art we like to think we have a unique style and taste where we select individual pieces for their own stand-alone worth and value and like family, it is a growing family of unique antique pieces that makes us love what we do. The philosophy we both share is 'Things of quality have no fear of time'. Antiques which have withstood the test of time relate to a quality found in craftsmanship most often lost in today's modern age. This doesn't simply mean we stick with the old but the ethos of what we stand for is that even antiques for the future should have a consideration to its longevity and quality as well as its style. At Pappilon we pride ourselves on seeking out items for the home by selecting unique pieces of furniture and furnishings not simply as a ready-made style but where each individual item has something to say for itself, much like the individuals who buy from us.

Description

Summer sale up to 40% off - a discount has been applied to all items.

An unusual pair of Victorian captain armchairs. Both chairs are identical and feature an unusually flat carved backrest, as well as both chairs, being abnormally large. These chairs feature a swooping curved back with elbow chair like scroll arms, both chairs feature a lovely grain to the oak frame maintaining a rich patina through years of constant use.

The seats are caned which is original but again, steers away from the usual solid wooden seat that would normally be featured in captain or smoker bow armchairs. Both raised on heavily turned legs almost resembling that of a bobbin leg design. The four legs are united by an "H' stretcher again heavily turned to create a busy yet somewhat simplistic design.

Both chairs are in good condition with the seats of both being very sturdy and without holes, One of the frames of the chairs does have some repairs that have been carried out to it over the years which I have tried to hi-light in the images.
These chairs are available singularly for £210 each.
