Description

A rather good looking pair of Ebonised Aesthetic Movement Occasional Chairs surviving in good order. We are liking the look of this handsome pair with their “Marmite” fabric.

They are of neat proportions but pack a punch with the frames heavily decorated and the form echoing the Aesthetic period well. The pair are of good quality, weighty and well finished. The black pot castors being a nice touch.

Workshop report - The chairs are a pair but slightly differing in size which you may have noticed. The frames are firm with gentle aging to the ebonised finish with no finials missing or broken. Okay the fabric is a love/hate relationship however the upholstery is tight and firm with the seat decent not sagging. Odourless and as mentioned weighty for their size.

A good looking pair of English chairs C1880.

Price is for the pair delivered.
