Description

A very smart longcase clock, the dial signed Northan, Pocklington. I can't find an entry for this maker but it probably dates from the 19th Century. It is unusual in that it strikes the half hours on a bell and the hours on a large coiled gong. The good quality 8 day movement has a smart brass dial with silvered chapter ring and gilt brass spandrels.

The case is in very nicely figured mahogany with fretwork sides and carved base. The hood has Corinthian capitals and a brass mount to the pagoda top.

The movement is in good working order and keeping good time. The case has a few chips (particularly where the trunk meets the base) but is in presentable condition.
