The trunk has a long arch top door with side columns and a panelled base with and a shaped plinth. The colourful dial has a folk history scene within the arch - John Anderson, who had a poem written about him by Robert Burns, it has scenes from the different continents in the corner paintings. The dial is signed by the makers James Leithead of Galasheils, who is listed as a maker in 1836. It has an 8 day movement that strikes the hours on a bell.
