Description

This is an English, pedestal stem Georgian tazza dating from the late 18th Century.

The tazza is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with 200+ years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated as is the bowl.

The tazza has a shallow bowl with an upturned rim measuring 21 cm (8.4 inches) in diameter. The bowl sits on an eight-sided pedestal stem that ends in four basal collars and a domed and folded foot which measures 11.4 cm (4.5 inches) in diameter. The tazza is 13.7 cm (5.5 inches) in height. There are two small, unburst bubbles in the metal of the bowl and one slightly larger one. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any evidence of restoration.

It is made from English lead metal. It weighs in at 735 gm (~ 1 lb 10 oz).
