Description

This is an Anglo/Irish Georgian/Regency cut glass dish or bowl dating from the early 19th century, c1820.

The dish is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the base consistent with some 200 years of use.

The dish is oval measuring 17.3 cm (7.7 inches) by 25.7 cm (10.3 inches) in diameter at the raised rim. The base of the bowl is star-cut and it has a tooth-cut rim. The dish is 4.2 cm (1.7 inches) in height. There is the normal minor nibbling to the teeth on the rim. There are a number of small white inclusions in the metal of the bowl. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.

Lead glass weighing in at 893 g. ( ~ 2 lb.).

Provenance: Formerly the Collection of the Late Commander Coventry Makdill-Crichton-Maitland, mostly formed between 1910-20.

Condition

There is the normal minor nibbling to the teeth on the rim. There are a number of small white inclusions in the metal of the bowl. There are no other chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration.
