Pair of Antique French Second Empire Bronze Candelabra

A highly decorative Pair of Mid 19th Century Antique French Second Empire "Faut Bronze" Candelabra with pleasingly dark patination, the fluted, tapering columns mounted upon "Lion's" Paw" feet which rise from concave triangular bases, each three light candelabrum set around an attractive central finial of floreate inspiration. The various elements of this classically inspired design, which could so easily spill over into fussiness, here come together in a manner entirely pleasing and successful. This lovely old pair almost certainly once formed the flanking elements of a clock garniture and, while we have listed them as "bronze", { which is how they were catalogued by the Auctioneers from whence they were purchased }, they may well in fact be made of spelter.
