Description

This is a very pretty Victorian sterling silver and tortoiseshell chamberstick made by William Comyns and hallmarked in London 1889.

It is in very good condition with no damage to silver and just one small shrinkage crack in the shell approx 1 cm long. It has a loop handle with applied filigree decoration and a raised candle spike with drip tray which has pierced supports and a scalloped base which is also hallmarked.

Heart shaped with a silver scalloped rim which is hallmarked and I suspect that it has never been used as a chamberstick. Overall a lovely piece from this very collectible Victorian silversmith.
