Description

For sale we have a lovely silver heavy bowl made by the highly esteemed silversmith A E Jones. The bowl is of a beautifully simple and elegant consisting of a heavy grade planished silver bowl extending to two simple but perfectly proportioned handles. The planishing has given both the interior and exterior a stunningly eye catching finish typical of A E Jones. The bowl carries full English Hallmarks for Birmingham 1922, along with the makers mark for A E Jones.

The bowl weighs approximately 210gm and is approximately 6 and 1/4 inches (15.8cm) in width including the handles, 4 inches (10.2cm)in diameter and 3 and 1/4 inches (8.3cm) high. The bowl is in a very good antique condition, but does carry a small impression to the front above the hallmarks and makers marks. This cannot be seen in the pictures and are almost impossible to photograph because of the hammered finish.

Declaration

Penrose Antiques Ltd has clarified that the AE Jones silver bowl (G0156 / LA68076) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1922.

Condition

The bowl is in a very good antique condition, but does carry a small impression to the front above the hallmarks and makers marks. This cannot be seen in the pictures and are almost impossible to photograph because of the hammered finish.
