Description

This is a fine antique sterling silver stamp box in the shape of a coal scuttle made by James Deakin & Sons and hallmarked in Chester 1903.

This novelty silver stamp case is not unique but they are quite rare to find in this shape (NB any shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).

Declaration

Wentworth Silver has clarified that the rare silver scuttle stamp box (1499 / LA78220) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1903.

Condition

It is in very good condition and hallmarks and registered number are clearly stamped. The interior retains some of the original gilding and the lid closes fully. A few minor surface marks but no damage or repair.
