Description

Beautiful 18th century three piece silver chalice with marks for the maker and for Barcelona. This chalice dates from around the late 1700s around 1780 with the makers mark SA and Bar for Barcelona. It has a raised bowl and foot and an ogee knopped stem with a gilt lip and gilt inside the bowl.

A chalice (from Latin calix, mug) is a footed cup intended to hold a drink usually during a Religious ceremony and is considered to be one of the most sacred vessels in Christian liturgical worship
