Description

This is a lovely antique sterling silver sugar basket hallmarked in London 1802 and made by Peter, Ann and William Bateman of the famous Bateman family. It is an impressive and imposing basket and made with a thick gauge of silver. Of navette shape it stands on a raised oval base and has extensive decoration with additional reed decoration to the handle and upper and lower rims.

The basket is in very good condition with no damage or repair and is a fine example of a Georgian silver piece from these highly collectible silversmiths.
