These exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver travelling candlesticks have a plain circular rounded form. The surface of each candlestick is plain and unembellished.
The travelling silver candlesticks by John Grinsell & Sons are fitted with the original, hallmarked screw fit cylindrical capitals, encircled with bands of tooled decoration.
Each capital and drip pan base is encompassed with a plain applied moulded border to the rim.
The capitals unscrew from the bases and can be compartmentalised inside one drip pan base, allowing the two pieces to be screwed together and form a travelling case.

Each piece has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each base and part hallmarks to each capital are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique Victorian silverware.
