Description

This is a fine early Georgian sterling silver muffineer or small caster made by Thomas Bamford and hallmarked in London 1729.

It is in very good condition and of an unusual octagonal shape. Hallmarks to the base and the lid are clearly struck. It has been made with a heavy gauge of silver and the beautifully pierced pull off top is finished with a finial and fits securely.

Thomas Bamford was a specialist caster maker in the early part of the 18th Century (NB Any shadows shown in the photographs are merely reflections).
