Description

This is a most impressive and ornate pair of large silver salts made by the famous silversmith John Bridge who held a Royal Appointment and was a partner in a firm with Rundell who employed Paul Storr and other notable silversmiths at the beginning of the 19th century. Both salts are identically hallmarked for London 1817.

They are in very good condition and retain the original gilding. Ornate all over decoration including small cartouches which appear to have been inscribed at some time but now vacant. The salts sit firmly on 4 paw feet (NB any shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).

A pair of Georgian salts of high quality from a distinguished silversmith.
