Description

This is a beautiful and large antique sterling silver salver made by W & J Barnard and hallmarked in London 1884.

It has been made with a thick gauge of silver and hallmarks are clearly struck. Standing on 4 ornate bracket feet with extensive and varied decoration to the body encompassing a large circular and vacant cartouche. The scalloped border is also decorated with flour de lys and bead decoration.

The Barnard family are highly regarded silversmiths and this ornate silver salver is a fine example of their work. (NB and shadows shown in the photographs are merely reflections).
