This is a fine example of a solid sterling silver basting spoon, dating from the reign of King William IV.
It is in the fiddle pattern and is engraved with a family crest. It is clearly hallmarked on the reverse of the handle for London 1837, with the maker's mark for Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater.
