Description

This is a lovely and quite substntial sterling silver tea caddy made by George Smith and Thomas Hayter. It was hallmarked in London 1800.

It is in very good condition with no repair or damage. Of oval shape with straight sides both upper and lower rims are decorated as are the two vacant cartouches. The pull off lid which also acted as a measure fits tightly and that too has decoration and a partial hallmark. The caddy is made with a thick gauge of silver and sits firmly. Hallmarks are very clearly stuck.

A fine Georgian tea caddy from these well known silversmiths (NB and shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).
