Description

This is a superb antique Georgian sterling silver teapot made by Solomon Hougham and hallmarked in London 1816.

It is in very good condition with no damage or repair. and sits firmly on 4 ball feet. Extensive gadroon, shell and acanthus leaves decoration to body and spout. Handle is securely fixed, has banded decoration and a thumbpiece. Hallmarks are clearly struck.

There are 2 small cartouches, one vacant the other engraved with a crown surmounted by a wheat sheaf. The lid closes perfectly and has a decorated finial.

Made with a thick gauge of silver as one would expect from this highly regarded Georgian maker the teapot has been professionally polished to show it at its best (NB any shadows shown in photographs are merely reflections).
