Description

This is a beautiful antique Victorian sterling silver dinner plate made by Hunt & Roskell and hallmarked in London 1872. John Hunt and Robert Roskell had continued the business originally formed by Paul Storr and later becoming Storr & Mortimer. The plate has Storr & Mortimer stamped on the reverse alongside the very clear hallmarks.

The plate has been made with a heavy gauge of silver, has overall gilding and bears a very impressive coat of arms. Condition is very good with just a few light surface marks. The rim is scalloped and has gadroon decoration.

This is a plate of very high quality made by very good silversmiths
