Description

This is a Georgian Press for Linen, Maps or Books

The press dates from around 1780, this is a very heavy piece and it was usual for presses such as this to be used to press clothes, but as this one is so heavy, it may be because it was used for Map or Book binding.

The press is set on a sturdy Oak table with a large drawer on the front, the screw is made in a hard fruit wood, and the top of the press is reinforced with hand forged Iron.

The overall height is 5ft, higher if the screw is raised, the table is 35” wide and 23” deep.
